This record group includes miscellaneous records relating to Oberlin's support for foreign missionaries during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Records pertaining to Oberlin College's involvement in missionary work include a set of appointment forms for students from the classes of 1844 to 1910 who became missionaries. Forms supply student name, date of birth, degrees taken, mission post, and sponsoring organization. Files also document the founding of the Oberlin Missionary Home Association (1890) and its operation of the Tank Home for missionary children. Records of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions and the American Missionary Association relate mainly to meetings held in Oberlin by the American Board (October 1902) and by the American Missionary Association (October 1906). Financial ledgers (1888- 1918) reflect the contributions made to the Woman's Board of Missions of the Interior by the Congregational churches of Ohio.
